Selective radio-guided neck dissection for cervical lymph node metastasis from occult thyroid cancer: Report of a case
نویسندگان
چکیده
Case Report: The case of a 35-year-old woman is presented. Five years before she had undergone near-total thyroidectomy because of multinodular goiter, which proved to be a benign colloid goiter at histology. Neck USG revealed fi ndings suspicious of neoplastic/metastatic adenopathy. Fine-needle aspiration (FNA) cytology was inadequate, but thyroglobulin was detected in the needle washout, revealing metastasis from an occult thyroid cancer. The patient underwent radio-guided selective neck dissection followed by radioiodine therapy. After a 5-year follow-up, the patient is free of disease.

Axillary lymph node metastasis in medullary thyroid carcinoma: A case report
Introduction: Medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) is an uncommon neoplasm originating from parafollicular C cells. Distant metastasis in MTC, such as axillary node involvement, is extremely rare. Case Report: The present study describes a known case of MTC with axillary lymph node metastasis in a 31-year-old woman. In 2010, she underwent total thyroidectomy and right-sided modified radical neck dis...
متن کاملDETERMINATION OF THE PREVALENCE OF OCCULT NECK LYMPH NODE INVOLVEMENT IN PATIENTS WITH LARYNGEAL SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA
Background & Aims: Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) accounts for 85% of laryngeal cancers. In some cases, lymph nodes do not show any specific symptoms despite being involved by cancer. Previous studies showed that patients undergoing selective neck lymph node dissection (SND) had significantly lower recurrence rates. We investigated the prevalence of occult neck lymph node involvement in patients...

Introduction: To assess the rate of cervical lymph node involvement in patients with supraglottic squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) with no lymph node in clinical assessments and radiological studies. Materials and Methods: Fifty-six patients who underwent elective dissection of the cervical lymph node of the second through fourth level were enrolled, and pathologic evaluation of the dissected lymp...

Objectives: Presence/absence of cervical lymph node metastasis plays a critical role in prognosis and survival of patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). This study was designed to assess the diagnostic accuracy of computed tomography (CT) scan for detection of cervical lymph node metastasis in oral SCC in comparison with histopathological analysis after neck dissection Methods: In...
متن کاملAxillary lymph nodes metastasis in a patient with recurrent papillary thyroid cancer: a case report
INTRODUCTION Thyroid cancer is the most common endocrine malignancy; the most common type of thyroid cancer is papillary thyroid cancer which accounts for approximately 90% of all thyroid cancers. Previously defined prognostic factors of papillary thyroid cancer include age, gender, tumor size, extrathyroidal extension, and distant metastasis. Cervical lymph node metastases are very common in p...
